ScrapeMaps are composed of DataAddresses and Actions. While DataAddresses capture data from websites, Actions perform other functions needed to access and process data.
Once the ScrapeMap has been created Actions can be added to further specify the activities of the ScrapeMap.
Actions are displayed on a green background within the ScrapeMap, and include the following: BrowseToLink, BrowseToNext, ClickNext, ScrollToBottom, Click or TriggerMore, and WaitAfterPageLoads.
The Actions named BrowseTo and ClickNext are shown below on the green background.
To begin creating an Action click in the Source Browser Pane and the ScrapeMap Wizard Dialog will display. The specific choices shown will vary depending on the Type of ScrapeMap and attributes of the source website.
In some cases only one or two Actions will be offered, to display additional Action options, click the small white arrow in the left of the green background labeled “Other Actions”.
The ScrapeMap Wizard Dialog now displays all of the Action options available for the type of ScrapeMap being created.
Specific Actions to use in web scraping are described in other Help Topics.
