Table ScrapeMaps are specifically designed for use with websites using data in HTML tables. They enable the user to quickly capture all headers and data from an HTML table.
Sometimes data will appear to be in a Table on websites, but actually may be List type data. If you create a Table Type ScrapeMap and click within the body of the table and the table columns are not brought into ScrapeMap immediately, the data is likely in List form.
After browsing to and filtering on the source browser website, a new Table ScrapeMap can be created and ScrapeMate will display a blank Root Instruction Set. To select data for a Table type of ScrapeMap, click anywhere in the HTML Table. If you get an error message try clicking somewhere else in the table. If this fails it’s possible that you aren’t dealing with an HTML table and should try capturing the data in a List ScrapeMap.
The ScrapeMap Wizard appears and Capture List Data is selected.
In the subsequent DataAddress Info window you will see the headers and data for the table that you selected. Because the headers in this table will become the DataAddress names they cannot contain spaces or special characters. ScrapeMate automatically removes spaces and special characters from the HTML table headers. This is where you can revise the names of the column headers, remembering not to use spaces or special characters.
After clicking OK you should see one DataAddress per column with the target data highlighted in green and visible in ScrapeMate’s Data Preview pane.
The Table Type ScrapeMap is ready to Save and Run.
