FreeForm ScrapeMaps are the simplest of the 3 types of ScrapeMap (FreeForm, List, Table). The process to capture DataAddresses varies by the Type of ScrapeMap.
FreeForm ScrapeMaps allow for the selection of one group of data. An example is when you want detailed data for one specific target item, such as one flight.
After browsing to and filtering on the source browser website, a new FreeForm ScrapeMap can be created and ScrapeMate will display a blank Root Instruction Set. To select data for a FreeForm type of ScrapeMap, only one instance of the desired data needs to be captured.
The ScrapeMap Wizard appears and Capture Data is selected.
In the subsequent DataAddress Info window, a user defined Name must be entered for the DataAddress. A DataAddress Name must be unique and can only contain letters and numbers with no spaces or special characters. The name of this DataAddress example is “FlightTime”. The optional Description allows us to store more information about the DataAddress and here it is set to “The time of the flight”. The Selector is generated by ScrapeMate and serves as the data locator.
Because only one instance of the desired data point is needed for a FreeForm type of ScrapeMap, once the Name and optional Description are complete and OK is clicked, the DataAddress field will turn green. The green data fields let you know that ScrapeMate has successfully targeted and captured the data highlighted.
The FreeForm Type ScrapeMap is ready to Save and Run.
